What does it mean when a guy says "I want get to know you"

So past few weeks I've been texting this guy in my school, we've now both left school and we hung out for a bit friday afternoon. He then had to go but he asked me what time I had to be home and I said anytime and he asked me to stay until he had to go, So I did, then when he had to go he was going to meet his friends at the bus stop and stay with me for a bit, then he asked which way I was walking and that me & him should meet up soon.

So we've texted, and Tuesday we're meeting up. However I he said "tbh, I want to get to know you" He said this when I said "I don't mind what we do" I hope he didn't think it as sexual innuendo because I didn't mean it like that at all.. but then he had to stop texting and said "ly text you round 10ish xx"

So.. what does this mean?

Do you think me & him have potential, and how can I let him know I like him when I see him Tuesday?
