Why does he ask me out, and then cancel on me?

This guy is driving me nuts. We have arranged to meet several times and apart from me cancelling once, he has cancelled on me EVERY TIME, usually due to a hangover or tiredness.

He lives down the road from me, so we were going to meet at the local bar tonight. He texts me about 3 hours before to ask if we could make tonight tomorrow as he was 'dying'. I replied I was working late tomorrow so I can't. He didn't text back.

Then I messaged him later asking if we were still meeting, and he mentioned in his reply that he couldn't get out of bed.

I can easily let go if he isn't interested. I am planning on moving abroad in a few months anyway. This is more of a casual thing, I think.

I can accept a guy isn't interested if he DOESN'T text me, but this guy is a frequent texter who has asked me out a few times. Why the hell does he keep cancelling on me?!

I have ignored his last text though. I want to think of a smart reply...but at the same time, I want him to know that I am far from impressed by his behavior !

Control he likes playing this game with you and thinks he can just have you when he wants you. He is most likely using you for his own issues and has someone else on the side. I hate to say it but you should keep ignoring him and find someone else because I know the game he is playing and he is only going to hurt you.

I totally agree. I thought ignoring him might be a bit harsh, but he is a total ass. If he does ask me out again I will just say no. I'm nearly 27 and still getting screwed over by guys. It's frustrating. I'm bored of all the games, and all the dating! Thanks for the advice :)

I know how you feel, I am in a bad relationship right now. Its hard to find someone who knows exactly what they want and are done with the games but someday everything will work out the way you want.

maybe he is confused about something within himself. like a bit of self rejection. if your his friend then work with him. assuming anything is placing the blame. and that's not fair so if your his FRIEND then stick with it until then if not just break him off.can't be that hard right?

It could be any number of reasons from him being a flake, to not very interested, to just being nervous to see you. Either way, it's no excuse for bailing on plans all the time. I would politely reject him when he asks from now on since he won't follow through anyway.

If he is constantly cancelling on you it must mean he doesn't have the great desire to see you like you do for him. So, I would let this one go

I can totally do that! For me he is just a passing fancy. But he is very charming. It's just so frustrating and annoying.

Been down that road with him before. I was hoping we were going down that road again, but apparently he would rather drink his weight in beer and have a massive hangover the day we are supposed to meet. His loss.

yeah..you should just forget about him. why be with someone who drink heavily and especially since you know he is the one who wants to go out with you and doesn't make much effort after that. =/ tell him your busy the next time he asks and hopefully he'll sober up. lol.

This guy has limited intentions towards you, so the best reply next time would be that you can't meet up because you have another date for that day, this will tell him that he has lost out which was down to his cancellations, and your really better off without someone so in consistant, he obviously does not rate yopu high enough to make an effort, so just let him think that he lost you due to his continued lack of effort,x
