Does my lawyer like me??

I am in the middle of legal proceedings and I have been working with my lawyer for over a year. At first, he was a bit cranky - maybe stressed, but after a few months of working and communicating with him he changed, and was so much nicer to me. I was in court a few months ago, and he stated about how great I looked - I was dressed very professionally for court. After that, a number of times, I had to meet him to seek legal advice about my ongoing case. He always stared at my face intently. Then one day I was in at his office getting legal advice, and he said "I like you"., and he sort of looked down, and said I mean "You are a very honest person".I turned my head and looked at him, and he had a slight smile on his face, and looked me straight in the eye. He said something else, and I got a little embarrassed. Anytime after that, that I had to meet him and seek legal advice he always stared at me.

This is one for the boys in this forum, that I have been trying to figure out, and I need your opinion on. Not so long ago, I was in at his office. I had just stepped into his office, he was staring at my face for a good minute or so, I could feel him, but I didn't lift my head or anything like that. Then he said he would be back in a minutes. He went into the bathroom for 10 minutes, and came back again...what was he at? I have praised the work he has done for me, and thanked him for being such an excellent support, and a great lawyer to me. I have handed up legal work for him to review - which he should have done, but I feel confident enough to do it myself. He has praised my level of work, and how well it was done, and constructed, and I'm not a lawyer! Recently, I had a witness in to speak to my lawyer about my case. I hugged and kissed my witness before he left my lawyers office, and my lawyer turned his head, and I believe it looked like he got jealous - honestly. I get on very well with my lawyer, and he has been a rock of support and help for me.

Do you think he likes me though? I'm wondering a lot about this! Help people! :)

I have a huge crush on my married lawyer too. I actually know his wife and she is a lovely person. I really like her. Nothing will probably ever happened with us but I came across this posting after Googling things like "signs he likes you" and "body language clues he likes you." I have noticed that his feet and hips are usually pointed in my direction, he has sat and stood very close to me before, stares at me or looks at me a lot sometimes, or tries to make me laugh (but he probably tries to make everyone laugh). I had a boyfriend for awhile and maybe it was my imagination but he seemed a bit jealous. He didn't want me to have a boyfriend because of my case (a custody battle). But he actually seemed a little angry in his email when he told me to break it off. Again that could just be because he didn't want me to ruin my case. I see him on the weekends because we've started watching football games for a specific team at a specific bar. Today his wife was there and I talked to her for about an hour. He came in at halftime and seemed pleasantly surprised to see us sitting next to each other and talking. He had an excuse to squeeze in between the two of us when he needed to reach the bar for his drink. She is a wonderful person and a very lucky woman. Another thing is that he seems that he cares for me deeply as a person. My father even mentioned that to me: "I think that [Anonymous] really, really cares about you as a person." He goes above and beyond in everything he does for me on the legal side, hasn't charged me in forever and I feel like I owe him a ton of money, and used to stay up late at night to work on my case before we went to court the first time. He would send me emails at 1 am and I found it sexy that he was thinking of me in the middle of the night even if it was for professional reasons. He said that his (very lucky) wife was worried that he wasn't sleeping enough. This man is also considerably older than me, he has 2 daughters older than me but around the same age... it's just a hopeless crush but I get the vibe from body language, eye contact, jokes, and all that I read online to confirm the above that he likes me too. The question is how much... how much does he actually devote thought to me? Does he miss me the way that I miss him and crave spending time together the way that I do? When I go into his office I stay practically forever but he may just be thorough with everyone. I love it though (unless I have to pee or have something to do).

I'm trying to figure out why you're even concerned about what he thinks or what he wants. HE'S MARRIED! And the fact that he's supposedly flirting with you makes him an unfaithful, disloyal potential adulterer.

Who cares what he's doing. He should be off the radar, unavailable, persona non grata. I warn you, please don't go down this path of sure destruction. I'm sure there's a lot of physical attraction and flirting is fun and exciting, but its besides the point. Have fun with this phase and leave it here. It's nothing but trouble beyond this point.

You sound like you're 15 all over again. This stage of the game of love is always the most exciting isn't it. Does he like me as much as I think he does...ooh, butterflies, he's staring at me again!

There is definitely some super flirting going on and no one flirts with someone they don't like unless they're angling for something. There's nothing he needs from you, but your cash, so I do think its on and poplin'. Will he ask you out after this whole thing is done. Perhaps.

I say enjoy this phase. Sometimes it ends up being the best part.

From your lawyer's perspective, it is possible that he is committing the so called "emotional infidelity." It is one of the ways to look at the situation, though not necessarily the only way. Emotional infidelity is covered in detail in modern books on psychology and on Web sites offering advice.

He may be handling it very well. He may be a person of great personal integrity.

One way to attempt to bring about a change is for you to indicate that you wish to be friends with him in the future, but only on condition that his spouse will be aware of your friendship. Facing such an option may be a test of his courage or produce the needed relief.

If you feel comfortable discussing with him his way of life, you may try to do it in a cautious and non-intrusive manner, not going into personal details. The only disadvantage is that doing so before the proceedings are over may upset his emotional balance.

A picture could be clearer and more understandable if additional information could be obtained about his character and professional achievements. However, this is not always possible due to ethical reasons.

The more you spend time with somebody, the more likely you are going to like him/her.

If it goes on for a long time, relationships can begin to develop. He has a crush on you, definitely. One concern here may be that if you develop a relationship with him while the legal proceedings are ongoing, he might lose his objectivity with your case. Being a professional, he knows that. That's why he's doing his best to hide his feelings.

If you think that these unreleased feelings of his might impede his future work, you may talk to him about this. This is something that might be difficult for you to do. Initiating a conversation like this takes a bit of courage. If you can somehow indicate or state clearly that you would wish to continue seeing him, not in his official capacity, *after* the proceedings have ended, this may release his tension or discomfort.

Familiarity breeds closeness and that may bind you two in a sense of camaraderie. But as your lawyer the only thing he's ethically capable of being is your laywer. He may have stepped away for 10 minutes to remind himself of that. and has to keep reminding himself of that until you're not his client anymore. After that? who knows.
