I've used that "pet name" a few times, generally though it's only on the girls I'm interested in. Otherwise, "hon", or "sweetie" would suffice. But calling a girl "love", yeah, she's the one I'm after.

Where's he from? Plenty of people in the UK use the term "love", but it's usually an informal way for a man to address a woman, in the same way she might be called sweetheart, darling, etc. Feminists hate it, but I don't think it's offensive.
