Hello :)
What I would recommend.. before bed, take a nice hot shower, drink a glass of warm milk, or chamomile tea, which is known to ease imsomnia and boost the immune system. Other foods known for aiding sleep are walnuts- which have a sleep-enhancing amino acid, helps your body clock hormone
almonds- contain magnesium which helps sleep
lettuce- has sedative properties (sounds weiiiiiird)
tuna- contains vitamin B6 good for sleep
Eating this stuff is scientifically proven to help sleep and numerous studies have shown that.
HOWEVER, personally, I don't like eating before bed, so I only drink tea. What I really like doing before bed is yoga!! Simple yoga stretches like lying in bed with your feet up against the wall, child's pose, downward dog, cobra pose, etc really help me :) Okay I'm probably weird like that but anyway. All that yoga also helps release all that tension in your muscles, and especially helps my neck and shoulders. :)
Last tip- turn off all technology- computers, phones, etc, because all that radiation disrupts your sleep.
Anyway, good luck!

do not worry that you can't sleep cause the more you worry , the more you'll not be able to sleep. your attitude should be "so what? if i can't sleep" and i even think that my eyes will soon get tired of staying awake that they will just naturally close... lol. i even redefine what insomnia is. for me it's the fear of not being able to sleep. my advise is kinda weird but that's just what helped me.
Turn off all of your electronic devices, kill the lights, make sure you get plenty of exercise during the day, don't eat a lot right before going to bed (and stay far away from caffeine and other stimulants).
Exercise definitely helps the most, though. That's what I've found, anyway.
If you got a phone or something that gets YouTube look up light thunder storms boy I fall asleep faster then getting clubbed in the head when I listen to that.
Look up asmr on YouTube. Fall asleep with your headphones in.

Have you tried taking magnesium supplements or eating more foods that are rich in this mineral? I'm currently taking a calcium+magnesium+vitamin d supplement (not for sleep, though), but I heard it's very good for sleep problems.
Have you tried exercising 'till the point of exhaustion (if you like sports)? I always sleep better after a long, tiring day.
Aside from what also said, you could also try aromatherapy, burning incense sticks or perfuming your room with calming scents like lavender.
When I can't sleep, I take a shower, turn off all the lightning and electronics, lay in my bed and try to revise mentally what I learnt for the next day at school (because it's boring). But the last thing probably doesn't apply to you, hehe.Since you already got plenty of answers telling you what to do, I'll tell you what you shouldn't do -- don't listen to music or any sounds that aren't "natural", and you shouldn't wear any headphones either. It's because one of my father's friends got addicted to it. Like he really couldn't fall asleep without any music or sounds. And it's bad, because what if you somehow end up in a situation without it? Then what? You're just not going to fall asleep. Also, if you end up listening to something the entire night, or at least a few hours into your sleep, you won't sleep well. Even though the noises might not wake you up, they will disturb your sleep and cause you to feel groggy and even more sleepy when you wake up in the morning. So try to live without listening to something. It does more bad than good.
Natural supplements, like Valerian Root or Melatonin.
Plenty of exercise during the day, really MAKE yourself tired.
Lay off the sugar and caffeine towards the end of the day.
Try reading or meditation, don't overstimulate your mind.
Avoid naps, and make sure to really GET UP in the morning (again, goes along with making sure you're actually tired at the end of your days).
I hope that helps ^_^READ! 100% READ - i can never get through about 5 pages without getting SO tired, no matter how interesting whatever im reading is
Don't look at your phone or any electronic screens after you lie down to sleep. The light can wake you up again and keep you awake. :/
