There are no home remedies for an actual flu that i know of. There are however symptom surpressors made by Nyquil, Alka-Seltzer and so forth. Once you take one of these they have about a 4-hr effectiveness period, which reaches maximum relief around 3 - 3.5 hours. A good one is Dayquil, made by Nyquil but without the drowsiness. This will give two stretches of reasonable relief during a normal work day. Of course you can alternate, taking the drowsy ones for overnight relief.
Keep in mind that a flu is a virus that sometimes takes days to run its course. There are antiviral drugs a doctor can give you, but they take days to work fully as well. Just don't forget that as long as you have a fever you are contagious.

First, check for white spots in the throat. If those appear, or you develop a fever, severe abdominal pain, yellowing of the skin, a bulls-eye rash or motor difficulties, you have no choice but to seek medical attention and proper antibiotics right away. Even without insurance, you cannot be turned away from any hospital emergency room (at least in the United States). If not, try taking Benadryl. If it's an allergic reaction, you'll get better. If not, it's still one of the best sedatives on the market and will help you sleep through the pain for the time being. Message me if you have any further questions.
If you're sick, it's to late. However, things like honey, cinnamon, garlic, oregano, and chamomile tea always seem to do the trick.
A Chia blend is something I personally prefer. Vitamin C also only helps to prevent colds.

hmmmmm, didn't know scratchy throat was exclusive for flu.

Drink lots of water, but not cold. Pineapple juice might help as well.
Drink a tall hot whiskey, put on layers of clothing and go to bed.. see how you feel the next day.
