Tattoo infection. How long does it take to heel?

Had a tattoo three days ago, Half part of it got infected. My tat artist told me to take celcum 500 mg antibiotics twice for five days and put lotion four times a day. I am doing it, How long would it take to heel? because my next game is next month and I wanna know

It should definitely be healed in a month. I have had tattoos never an infection though, but I am in medical school. I'm not sure about the effectiveness of the celcum pills, but with a standard antibiotic it should take about a week to heal. If it looks like it is getting worse or doesn't look better in three days you need to get a script from a doctor for Keflex or another antibiotic. Either way it should be healed by then.

Mine was quite badly infected but it only took a week or so to clear up and that was without any antibiotics.

It's on my wrist, just after I had it done I was asleep and dreaming that my arm was itchy, I woke up gouging my tattoo out with my nails, there was ink and blood everywhere! I'd scratched out huge chunks of it so had to wait until it was healed and had it touched up. Looks fine now.

I just used Sudocrem, it's for healing wounds and burns and helps to stop scars being left. I also washed it with tea tree everyday. I heal quite quickly and rarely get infections though so it didn't take long for the infection to disappear.

It's probably a better idea to ask your doctor what to do than your tattoo artist. The artist might be right, but if he's wrong then you'll end up at the doctor anyway. Try asking on WebMD instead of here.
