It is possible to get toxicated from an excessive amount of water in a short period of time if nothing else is consumed. It upsets the balance between sodium and water in your bloodstream causing medical conditions to occur. It's good to drink a lot of water but there needs to be a mix of other things with it xD

It's really just a matter of the extent of it. Most people are just ghastly uneducated and their minds automatically go to "OMFG THEYRE ANOREXIC!!! QUICK SHOVE A SANDWICH DOWN THEIR THROAT!!!" That's really all it is
It's because they have neither researched or completed a fast. They use anecdotal evidence or go by what someone else who was uneducated in fasting had told them.
Fasting decisively is a wonderful refresher, it will help reset your body & mind.
Your body needs nutrients for fuel & balance... I speak from experience I once fasted for like 25 days & I would fast a lot as a teenager not even for weight purposes mainly for spiritual reasons but it took a serious toll on my body :/

Because you're not actually getting any nutrients. Your body is dependent upon having a steady supply of macronutrients coming in to fuel basic bodily processes. Look up Basal Metabolic Rate.
