I don't know where you are, but at Whole Foods, and some other shopping chains there is a product called Gardein (garden + protein). I really love the meatless beef and chicken products, it made switching over very easy. It actually tastes pretty good and easy to make! I can make "beef" fajitas, "chicken" stir fry, and all my other favorite dishes but there is no meat whatsoever.
I went vegetarian this year as my New Years resolution. I have been wanting to stop eating meat for about a decade, and it was WAY easier than I thought. While I miss meat, it wasn't hard at all. I thought it would be harder, but it wasn't. There is a whole world of amazing vegetarian food, just look for it! Have fun and don't be afraid to try new things.
It may be easier to adapt to a vegan diet first and then maybe go vegetarian after that. That would be less stress on you.

Make sure you find out about any food allergies before you start. Especially if you have a soy or nut allergy - a lot of vegetarian/vegan protein sources contain one or both. It's best to do your own research on this and try to still eat as balanced a diet as possible.
Protein isn't actually the most important thing - make sure you're getting all of your vitamins.Make sure you supplement everything you will be losing from meat: iron, calcium, all of your vitamins, and don't under eat or cut out carbs - just make sure they aren't refined carbs. Other than that, keep it interesting by trying new recipes.
As for grocery, most stores have lots of fresh produce, but if you desire meat alternatives, go to any kind of Walmart or "superstore" type establishment.I went vegetarian for about 2 years, it was so easy! I could easily be vegetarian again but I choose not to due to lifestyle changes. The only difficult part is consuming proteins but this can easily be done eating foods other than meat (not to the greatness of meat but enough to keep you going). I'm from England and there are great varieties of meat substitutes in most food stores. And one great thing, vegetarian food always tastes nicer in my opinion!
When I went vegetarian I got anaemia due to a lack of iron. So make sure you eat lots of vegetables (especially those high in iron), meat substitutes (can be found in the grocery store and are most of the time packed with nutrients that are normally in meat) and if necessary take iron supplements.
Going vegetarian is not difficult at all. A lot of pre-made stuff in stores is vegetarian. Google vegetarian recipes. You can buy pretty much anything in grocery stores. Be creative.
A lot of yummy pre-made vegetarian food out there. I'd do a lot of grocery shopping... I was vegetarian for about ten years then became a pescatarian... it's very doable.
I am a vegetarian and I never have an urge to try non-veg food. I find a lot of variety of taste in vegetarian diet. You can try Indian Recipes, they taste so damn good.
Make sure to get your greens in somehow. They'll make up a lot of your iron which you're going need :) !
Can i have all the delicious meat and fish you are passing on then?
What do you eat now?
Get b-12 supplements at the grocery store to make sure you're getting all the nutrients that you're missing from not eating meat. You make it sound like all you eat is meat? It's just food, if you want fuits and vegetables, eat them, if you have the sudden urge to eat meat a good while later, why not?
why are you trying to go vegetarian
TIP: DON'T EAT MEAT.
