and I want to know some ways to get rid of it
Without buying overpriced meds
You are fucked. Your immune system is waging war. It will likely win, but it needs to eradicate some entrenched intruders. It will take a bit of time. If your condition is steady (i. e. not progressing at all) for over a week, go see a doctor, as you may need antibiotics. The invading army, seeing your defensive forces, have holed up in some bunkers (bunkers are bacterial walls). It's time to send in the artillery. As expected, there will be some collateral damage. The air support can't tell which bunkers are occupied by who, and will surely hit some friendlies (in this case your gut bacteria). Expect a flood of casualties to the medical wards (aka diarrhea). This is the cost of winning the war, but the trade-off is tough to stomach, hence making sure it is needed before calling it in.
In future, at the first inkling of a sore throat, when that little tickle just doesn't go away, gargle some warm salted water (I know it's gross, just do it) or some very strong alcohol. This can have the effect of changing the milieu of your upper throat and mouth just enough to making it much less hospitable for the highly specialized intruders to take hold.
Also, honey contains chemical compounds that produce an analgesic effect, so that may help with pain. If it is too painful to swallow honey infused tea, try smothering some soft bread in honey, then chewing it to a nice pulp. It will do a much better job of coating your irritated throat than the tea would.
Lastly, get lots of sleep. Call in all the favours you have. Delegate what you can, and reschedule the rest. Focusing on relaxing and giving your body a great chance to dispatch it's foe will get you back on your feet in no time. It's like the factories in the US during WWII switching from manufacturing cars and appliances to build fighter planes and ordinances. A healthy supply chain shouldn't be overlooked. when German forces were stretched too thinly by fighting on multiple fronts (never march into Russia! just nuke em from orbit), their supply lines were cut and they were soon made ineffective, and were forced to retreat. It's more efficient to take care of yourself first and then deal with everything you pushed aside now that you are healthy again.
Oh cool, now my dinner is just about finished cooking. I hope you feel better soon.
Keep fighting the good fight, soldier!

I can't see where you live because you're on private, but if you live in the UK, you don't have to pay for medicine if you sign up with a local NHS-funded pharmacy. There are many non-prescription medicines they can give you for free as long as they judge you need them. Not many people know this, and end up paying for what they could get for free.
Anyways,
- Try clearing your throat with saline water by gargling. Just boil some water and add enough salt that it tastes salty (approx. 1tsp per 200ml).
- Drink a lot of honey water. I always use Manuka honey because it has antibacterial properties, but any honey is okay. Dissolve a spoonful of honey in comfortably warm water.
- Take a hot bath, submerge yourself up to your neck. After about 20 minutes, get out and dry off. Don't get your hair wet, as it can lead to a headache if you already have a col.
- Stay warm. Even if you already feel warm, try not to cool off by drinking iced water or removing clothing.
- Drink lots of warm soups and teas.
- Don't stay in bed. Take regular walks around the house, but not outside.
I have noticed that those medicine are very high. You can usually get Robutussin at the dollar store.
I usually keep myself warm though and let it pass.
