Hey, I use to hang out in the sun too much doing things like walking and riding bikes. And now my skin has darkened and I am having trouble getting it back to lighter shade. I have stopped going out in the sun for two months now. But I don't see it changing. *worried*
You need to wash your face with a soap for your type of face skin (dry, greasy, etc.) twice a day: one in the morning when you get up and one at night before going to sleep. If you wash it this often you're going to lose the tan faster. Hands are the first part of our body to lose the tan because we wash them often.

It can take between 2 And 5 years to lose that tan, depending on how much sun expouser you get from now on.
Your skin has adopted to being exposed to the suns rays, For long periods of time and tanning is the defense against the sun. start wearing a wide brim hat when you go outside as well.
Only thing you can do is wear sun screen and wait... thats pretty much it
