Going to the gym twice a day worth it? Cool downs?

I remember a few years ago I joined a gym and my PT was telling me that this one girl she trains goes in 3 times a day, and that seemed excessive to me at the time, like I thought the body needs proper rest and that wouldn't do much.

But is it worth it?

I go to the gym at 5am, I do my circuit, 45 minutes later or so I leave. If I was to go in in the afternoons as well, do my program twice a day 5-6 days a week. Is that going to help expedite the weight loss in any way?

I mean in the biggest loser (yes I know THAT life style has its downsides), they exercise like 10 hours a day or something, and lose quite large amounts.

On another note, if you can answer, is going on the treadmill for 5 minutes to walk at a slower pace for a 'cool down' actually doing anything?
