I say the same thing and by need i mean without a cup of coffee i'm not entirely focused or sane the whole day alhough today i just realized i haven't had my cup of coffee :\ lol sometimes i forget and i wonder why i've felt less awake today, it just really gives my body that wake-up i need, i don't drink it as soon as i get up like a lot of people do and i don't know how they do i can't stomach it, it makes me feel sick without any water and food in my stomach first, but i'm not entirely awake or sane without my daily cup, i feel like it's the unique sugar rush it gives me as well, i could eat chocolate or a biscuit but it doesn't give the same rush as a sugar in coffee. So when i say i need my cup i need it, i will be sure to not forget my cup later on lol.

It's a relaxant for me. I'm dependent on it because I've drank coffee since I was 14. If I don't have it I get a headache that would usually occur in the morning but by the third day it'd be gone. I have one to two cups of coffee per day. I crave the taste.
If I drink a lot of coffee every day for a while, then yes there is a physical dependence. It's not an compelling addiction like cigarette smoking where you really want/need one, it just leads to mild headaches if you've consuming too much caffeine regularly and then stop for like 2 days... On the third day the light headache will be gone and will not return... That cleared up, no when I feel like drinking coffee it's because I'm feeling a little groggy that morning and I like the taste of coffee so I think I'll have a few mugs. I could have tea but I'd prefer the taste of coffee that morning. I could skip both but it would be nice to have a hot cup of Joe...
Caffeine is addictive actually. I started drinking coffee when I was 13 . If I don't have at least two cups in the morning I will develope a very bad head ache. Some will argue that it's a psychological dependency... Tell that to an alcoholic that has tremors if they don't get a drink..

Essentially it is a negative. There is no positive feeling or real change that a cup of coffee entails. Rather, coffee is addictive, and you drink it to pacify the feeling you get when you have not had coffee in a while. The "feeling" comes from the relief of no longer having to live with out it.
im not a fan of hot coffee so i always end up putting ice in it and depending on what kind of coffee it is it tastes good sometimes i drink normal coffee or i drink something strange like today i drank blueberry muffin coffee tho my boyfriend says he is a coffee addict
Most people obsessed with it got addicted early on as part of their morning. I dont know anyone that falls outside of that category. So grow to love the taste of it, others grow to "need" it to function.
I hardly ever drink coffee, but when I want to I'm usually tired and prepared to down a bottle of water afterwards so I dotn get the shakes.

When I'm tired, I want coffee. But I'm fine with coffee anytime of day as long as it has milk, cream and sugar.
