Go to the doctor and take care of it promptly. I made the mistake of letting a small infection along the side of my fingernail get worse, ended up in the ER until 1:30am, almost lost the fingerail. It started out small, just red and a little uncomfortable... got worse over the week and then unbearable. Get it treated ASAP.
Soak it for 20 min a day in a disinfectant soak (you can buy like a detol one that you dilute in water.) You can also get creams for ingrown nails. If this doesn't fix the problem see a doctor they'll know how to remove it. The sooner the better, I lost both my big toe nails from just letting it go.
Go to a doctor and ask for a good cream so you don't end up with gangreen and loose your finger.
