Guys: Do you do this to impress a girl you like?

So my ex recently started going to the gym, and is very fit now. Ever since I commented that I noticed his shirt fit tighter he keeps mentioning going to the gym. and even bragging about how he can run on the treadmill more than the guys, and how the guys will bench "like 80lbs" and he does more. He kept talking about how fit he is and he even lifted up his shirt( but made it look like he was just looking at his belt).

So do you guys do this when you like a girl? To impress her?

Good god! He is showing off. Pathetic, isn't it? I have a guy friend that does the exact same thing. To him, the gym and being buff is equivalent to heroin. He can't stop bragging and he prances around the house without his shirt on, especially when our attractive female roommate is home.

I agree here...I work out but I believe if you look good that will speak for itself..no need to let the word no you work out and you look good...if you do they will notice

haha usually its the girl who mentions my "jackedness". I would never bring up the gym in conversation, unless some funny event transpired there or something. other than that, I view it as cocky and dumb to do so
