Stereotypes about Europeans in your country?
Please also say which country you're form. Thank you :]
In Belgium, the main stereotypes tend to be about the neighboring countries, and they're more true than not.
Let's see...
The Dutch, stingy racists, and even the liberal drugs attitude is going away.
The French, smelly imperialists, have affairs, incredible egos, still think they are the centre of the world. (If a song or movie is famous in france, it will be called "World famous")
The Germans, efficient, unfunny, like to believe their beer is number one (when it's really number 2), fit, aggressive youth
Luxemburg - Is it even a real country? Home of cheap ciggarettes and petrol.
From UK
So the British
Have bad teeth(I've heard that but only seen a few people with bad teeth)
Always drink tea(it's true)
Not obsessed about the Queen or the royal family
A lot of polish immigrants have came in the past year or so
We don't forget how to spell and leave out the letter 'u' in so many words
We like to complain a lot
We queue a lot(I don't know why but I've heard were unique for it?)
About the queuing : It's seen as a symbol of British fairplay and stoicism. (Stiff-upper-lip-ness)
Queueing is done (or at least attempted) in most other countries. But the British are known for doing it calmly, politely, without grumbling, and god help you if you try to jump the queue.
In other countries, there will be moaning, queue jumpers, and much general unpleasantness. And in some rare places, the concept of the queue just doesn't exist. He who shouts loudest, wins.
Thanks Belgie, yeah I've never seen someone get really angry in a queue or cut the line
yes! you do queue a lot! over here people often just run into the buss, there's no line for it.
but if think it's an anglo-thing, since I noticed in america they do it as in england :)
i did jump the queue once, I think they hated me lol but I really didn't know I had to wait in line!
Actually in fairness British people do have bad teeth. It's just that we don't think so because we're not used to anything better. Americans criticise our teeth because they're used to seeing so much better and place a higher emphasis on that. Live in the US and I bet you'll come home and start staring at people's teeth :) Having said that, it's not clear that other non US countries are any better, and lots of people have good teeth here. They've really improved in the last generations
the stereotype about europeans in my country (singapore)...is that only european guys go for the transexuals/transvestites. because we don't ever see men of other races, or men from usa/australia going for them. hahahaha
ahahah now that's a funny one :)
LOL Belgie. well no, no assumptions. there's a distinct difference between americans & the europeans in their demeanor and their style. I also worked behind the scenes once for a pageant show for trannies...and I chatted with a group of them, they all said the guys they hook up with tend to be europeans. there'd be an american or aussie once in a blue moon, but most are europeans.
hahaha I <3 belgie! I know, its annoying when they speak so loud and in that drama tone!

From Ireland and we love to drink, fight and swear... all in that order lmaooo. I could agree with the drinking part and the swearing, don't know about the fighting part though. Can't forget the potatoes too!
Europeans have weird senses of style and like watching insane sports, like handball, soccer, and cricket. The two or three I've met have actually fit into that one perfectly.
yea we looooove soccer :D
voltaire huh? so you like the french? :P
and what is it about their style that's weird? just curious :)
couldn't agree with you more! :)
