How do you treat bruises on the legs?

Okay, so I've bruised my legs alot, can barely walk, And can almost not put on my jeans because my legs are swollen... both of them. And I have a nice blueish color on them about 2-3 cm big. It's maybe 20 cm from the knees on the outer side.

How do you treat bruises in the best possible way. When I search there are a lot of methods. What do YOU recommend? I've applied heat lotion. Like I usually do but it hurt a lot and It's annoying because I'm going to town tomorrow and I do not like looking like an old man who has problems walking...

Go to the doctor for this; it sound pretty bad. Heat lotion won't help. you've busted blood vessels.

The great news is that since you're under 18 you're not likely to be mistaken for an old man...

Thanks. I'm not going to the doctor for this.. It's just some bruises, I've had it before but it took like a week to heal since I didn't really treat it then. I should have wrapped it when I got it aswell.

No prob -- never wrap a bruise; it can cause further bruising. The icepack/heat pack combo are the only real was to treat it till you can get to the doctor -- were you off playing football or something? Boys are always getting really brutal bruises from all the kicking/cleats.

Actually full contact sparring(fighting, kyokushin karate), so bruises are to be expected. Anyways one of the people who I train with is a doctor, he says I should wrap it to prevent further swelling.

But it actually felt better after a while walking, I don't think it's the muscles that are bruised, I think it was the under-skin(in swedish underhuden). Anyways it's not that bad, it's just that it's on both legs that is annoying. Doctors can't treat it much other than anti inflamatory pills anyw

Got it. My doctor would never wrap a bruise...aside from using an ice/heat wrap.

As long as you're feeling better, I guess that's the main thing. :-)

personally I use frozen peas or an ice pack, but maybe a hot wash cloth would work? or the hot and cold medicine, its not really meds but its spray on and it sometimes comes in lotion form..

Thanks, I used frozen vegetables when I first got it.

The lotion is something called tiger balsam(dunno in English) but it's known to give good effect.

Also, I have heard that if you take a rounded edge of a lip stick or something of the sort and rotate it around the edge of the bruise it disperses the blood in the area and lessens the coloring.

I don't really own many lipsticks. Anyways I think this has the same effect as wrapping it :)

Anything frozen for thirty seconds then take it off for 30 ten reapply ect ect. It isn't good if you leave it on there constantly.
