I always drink whey protein very shortly after working out. Just make sure you eat constantly to keep that metabolism up. 6 mini meals a day (with protein in each) is the standard I'm pretty sure.

I max muscle build, therefore I eat a meal consisting of complex carbohydrates and protein about 30-60 minutes before exercising, a nutrient shake directly after (to nourish my broken down muscle fibers) that contains protein (about 40 grams) and more complex carbohydrates to get an insulin spike in order to release growth hormone, and then another well balanced meal 60 minutes post workout.
I was a swimmer. Back when I was working out all the time, dietitians said eat ASAP. Like banana while you shower and get dressed ASAP.
Pre-workout I could eat pretty much whatever as I walked onto the pool deck. Some people couldn't do that because they'd puke.
Out of water, however, I'd have to give myself a good 30 min if we were doing any kind of running (and I HATE running, and I'm very bad at it)

I usually wait anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour before I exercise, whatever works out. After I excercise, I usually cool off and shower first, so there's no specific amount of time I wait to eat... just whenever I'm done with all that.
Lol the title question and the second one are opposite?
1st: Eating right after is the best for you.
2: Idk, it's not the best to exercise after eating a big meal.I eat a small meal 2-3 hours before I workout and if I don't then I eat almost immediately after my workout because your metabolism is so high after the workout their free calories
After running, I usually wait till my stomach settles, I always get a sick feeling after running about 2 hours in 100+ degree weather.
Usually wait an hour or so after eating for any cardio. I can eat after exercising though, just depends if it happens to be meal time or not.
I eat all the time, I don't wait. I eat 2 minutes before I exercise and right after. Doesn't make a difference to me.
