Should I do laser surgery or keep my glasses?

i wear glasses, only for reading though, but surgery is something iv considered doing in the near future, like a few years down the track. I can't stand contacts and iv been told that I look good in glasses:) I don't mind my glasses but I'm not sure which would be better for me in the long run. if anyone has had laser surgery, can you let me know how its impacted you and whether I should go for it?

12 million of Lasik patients have undergone the procedure since it was first approved in 1995.

approximately one in 2000 cases, a patient would require a corneal transplant to correct a LASIK complications.

I wouldn't risk it. Once your eye(s) are screwed up it's for life.

You look fine in glasses.

For me it takes 30 seconds to put my contacts in & maybe one minute to clean them. I wear hard contacts & have 20/10 vision.

It's not worth the risk.

My friend had laser eye surgery, and it went fine as far as I know. He never wears his glasses any more or has to. You look nice in glasses, and you can always wear them any way if you have the surgery done.

I guess it just depends on what you want.

oh that's good. thanks but I wouldn't need to wear them after surgery is done. I don't really know what I want lol... I'm fine how it is now but I don't know bout the future..

Well, if you drive a lot you may wanna get the surgery. Not getting the surgery so you can wear glasses isn't that big a reason lol. And I'm not sure how someone who wears glasses drives in the sun.

Do they just wear sun glasses over their regular glasses?

Someone answered saying something about a risk. If t's really risky, it's probably not a good idea. But it's your decision.

Nahh... I'm suppose to wear glasses for reading also, but I don't anymore even though I'm suppose vto. I cab still see without them and I'm sure you can too, that being said you really don't need eye laser surgery. It's expensive! If you want to see better and tired of your glasses I'd say go for contacts. People can't see them, you'll be able to see better, + they come in super cute colors.

Yeah I can see without em but sight becomes so muchh sharper with them. I could give contacts a go even though theyd freak me out lol, altho id keep em clear since my eye color is like the only good thing bout my face lol. Thanks for your input:)

some classmates got laser surgery and they are really happy about it. you should if you have the money but you don't look bad with glasses

oh thanks=] well tbh [iv never actually worn them lol] I get scared of em 0:) putting something in my eye, haha. what if it gets stuck? what if I poke my eye? what if I scratch my eyeball?! other than that id love them haha. any advice on how to get rid of contactophobia?:P

Well don't you touch your eye to get an eyelash out? Its just like that, its not as though you're jabbing it in or anything, just requires a gentle touch. Try to avoid rubbing your eyes, just because it can move the thing out of position. Its meant to sit on the non-white bit i.e. iris and pupil, and movement can make it move, but I just blink and its back in position. Imagine all the cool stuff you can do without glasses :D

ahh yea I gues, but what about taking it out? how do you do that? and doesn't it feel weird or dangerous when it moves? what if it moves up?

lol I'm so sorry I'm jus so scared of the possibilities. like id loveeee to try it but I get worried that something bad will happen=/ stupid but true...

tbh I don't need glasses for things like sport and that, jus reading and driving, any other time ill wear em by choice

Imagine laying a tissue on a table and picking it up from the middle with thumb and forefinger. You have to kind of pinch it in the middle, then it comes off the eye easily, same with contacts. Once a lens is in, you don't feel anything, kinda like wearing glasses; you know you're wearing them but don't consciously feel them. They don't move around unless you rub your eyes or something. Have you ever touched one?

if it was me I would save the money and go with glasses. there's so many different types ! maybe get contacts if you don't like the look of glasses. I'd mainly be afraid that the doctor will make a mistakes and my eyes end up worse!

yeh iv come to see em as an accessory hehe, its jus the long term I was thinkin bout. yeh I'm kinda creeped out too but at the same time people hav gotten good results. ahh the confusion!

I wear contacts and if I had the extra money to throw around I would get the surgery. I think I look ugly and glasses and do not mind the contacts but it would nice to not have to deal with them.
