Can I die from being constipated for too long?

to start off, I'm not really constipated, I have impacted stool (fecal impaction. if you don't know what that is, it is when poop is stuck in your rectum, because it is too hard or difficult to pass. I have this and it is quite painful. every time it feels like it is about to come out, I try to push but it is too big and too painful too pass. so its just stuck right on the inside of my butt hole. I was crying and begged my mom to take me to the hospital. it has been stuck down there since Tuesday but I can't go to the hospital until Friday. can anything terrible happen if I wait that long. and does anyone know if laxatives help for impacted stool? I haven't pooped since Sunday

Yes, fecal impaction can be serious. It can lead to bowel obstruction, tissue necrosis/ perforation, and then sepsis. It does not take months to happen- if you haven't sh*t for two weeks it can happen. HOWEVER, if you go get checked out on Friday you should be fine. They will probably do an xray to see how much is in there and how far up it goes.

At this point laxatives will probably not help you. Neither will a home enema. They may remove it digitally- which means they will actually dig it out of your butt.

After this is resolved, you MUST revamp your diet. More fluids, more fiber, more moving around.

I might try a stool softener to see if that helps. You can't die, but in EXTREME circumstances they can have to do surgery. but that's longer than just a week or close to it. I'm talking like over a month so I would say they might do something at the dr, but at least try a stool softener adn lots of water.

Laxatives will soften the stools. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day but as this is an immediate problem, either speak to a doctor or get an enema/anal douche with Luke warm water which will soften the fecal matter - search the Internet for advice on douching if you intend doing this yourself at home.

All you need to do is drink more fluids like water,or try a laxative.

If its a recurring issue then I would definitely go to the doctor...

Stop pushing! Too much pushing can give you hemorrhoids. Got to a local Emergency Room and use a fake name. All the illegals do it. They have 100 ways to help. They have a pump that sort of sucks it out. They have laxatives you can't get in a drug store. And so on. It is a medical issue, and it should be treated like one.

You could always preform a home water enima to loosen things up. There are even certain over the counter pills you can get which dilate and relax your rectum.

Bur anyway, yes you can die but it takes a very severe case and several months for sepsis to set in.

No, eventually your body will get rid of it, it'll just be uncomfortable... I suggest getting stool softener, Not the same as a laxative, err I think there was one called Laculose...

yes you can make your body too toxic from not being able to poop. maybe try senna tea? It is a natural laxative... also try some light yoga ad massage your belly... also avoid eating cheese/diary products and anything that contains gluten.

You learn to control your muscles. Why is that important? You have a muscle inside your ass the size of your fist. If you have trouble controlling it, it can take over your life. In fact, there are many strong muscles. But like any muscles, they can be trained to be more flexible -- and stronger.
