Would you say "maybe next week" when you mean "no"?

Asked a girl out on a date and she said, "I'm busy this weekend, but maybe next weekend." I said OK, I'll call you next week.

My friends have said that what she really means is that she's actually not interested and to just move on and forget about her.

What do you think?

I often say something like that when I am not interested but I do not want to offend a guy saying "no". If I am interested in the guy but I am really busy, I say that I am busy, however, for example, I have no plans for Friday. But people are different, so try to call her next week, unless she agrees to go out on date, it seems it is better to really move on.

Personally I wouldn't say that, it's a bit cruel to give somebody false hope and I hate when guys do it to me!

if she's not interested, she will probably just say no I'm busy sorry. but she offered another time, so it can be really interpreted into either ways..id wait for a week and invite again, and see what's up
