Why Trump Wouldn't Make a Bad President

I don't particularly care for the American voting system. The system of a representative democracy leads to a lot of misrepresentation of the voting public. There are a lot of people backing Donald Trump for a variety of reasons, and there are just as many people who are against him for an even broader variety of reasons. But the more I have thought about it, the more I realized that Trump wouldn't make a bad President. And here is why...

1. There are too many safeguards in place.

America operates under a system of checks and balances. No President can just decide things without the backing of congress. No President can just make laws without the Supreme Court deciding if they are constitutional. There are plenty of people who actually run things that won't let a President get out of control. So any time people say a President is going to take away our guns or whatever other crazy thing people say a President can do, those are just ignorant people spreading ignorant information. There are lots of steps in place to make sure no one in America has all the power all the time.

2. He is a business man and America is a business.

Say what you will, but Trump runs multi-billion dollar companies around the world. Sure some of them have gone bankrupt, but he's got more. And if he keeps all these companies afloat and they make him enough money that he can run for President all on his own dime, then one of two things have to be true. A: he is a smart business man who is fantastic at running successful businesses or B: he knows how to hire the right people to make sure his businesses run successfully without him. Those are both important things. That means that if he can't do something, he finds the people who can and hires them. That's exactly what the American government system is about, finding people who know how to do things the right way.

3. He is a negotiator.

Trump knows when to beat his chest and ruffle up his feathers, but he also knows when to sit down and talk to people. He has said this on multiple occasions in debates and interviews. He is willing to sit down and talk to figure something out. That's important. And as a businessman, he understands that negotiation isn't about all or nothing, it is about the best outcome for all involved.

4. He isn't afraid to say he changed his mind.

There are a couple instances where the media and his candidate rivals have tried to call Trump out for saying one thing and then saying something else later. And in several instances, Trump is quick to say that he used to think one thing, but then he talked to some people about his plan and found out more information and he changed his mind because that was what needed to happen. And he isn't afraid to say that. He is actually being honest about it.

5. Making America Great Again isn't a bad idea.

America used to be a powerhouse. We didn't just fight wars, we ended wars. We were the ones who were the peacekeepers because did what needed to be done when no one else would do it. And we aren't that any more. We are the babysitter who watches tv while the kids run amok. We don't do what need to be done because we are playing by rules while terrorist aren't. We are that sleeping giant and Trump wants to wake that giant up. He is ready to make those tough decisions. And those tough decisions not only bring peace to us, but to other countries around the world.

6. Trump isn't generating hate.

Trump is accused of generating hate, but the hate was already there. The anger was already there. Trump is just the person who isn't the normal Washington bureaucrat who ride down the center of the fence. Trump takes stands and says things to keep himself in the media, and people latch onto that and bring their hate with it. That isn't Trump's fault.

7. He doesn't take no for an answer.

Trump isn't the kind of guy who likes to hear the word no. If you asked Congress why education is so poorly funded, they would have a million reasons why. But Trump is the kind of person who would say, "We are fixing the educational system" and when Congress said, but we don't know how, then Trump would say, "Then I'll find some people who can and they can come up with a plan that you can vote on." It's not hard, it is just cutting through the crap to get things done.

8. Every President is bad, so why would Trump be any different.

No matter how great a President is, they all do bad things. Lincoln helped freed the slaves but did horrendous things to Native Americans. Jefferson wrote of freedom while owning slaves. Theodore Roosevelt built our national parks system but was considered by many to be a bigot. George W. Bush led the fight against terrorism but let this country suffer at the hands of big oil companies. Every President has their goods and bads. Trump will be no different. He would do some good things and some awful things. Every candidate would, no matter who is selected.

Those are all the thoughts I have wandering around in my head on the matter. I just don't think things will be as bad as everyone seems to think. And if you are going to move to another country if Trump is elected, then by all means, move. This is a democratic nation, and if the majority picks Trump, then there's no room for sore losers for the next 4 years.
