Why did my ex unfollow me on Instagram 2 weeks after the breakup, & then refollow me after I said hello to him?

My ex and I broke up a month ago. It was mutual because there was a strain but he wanted it more than I did at the time. A month later I’m doing really well but he’s been so weird. He started posting on Instagram LOADS & putting up Snapchat stories and insta stories nearly every day, which is very unlike him. Then I noticed one day after I posted a nice selfie, he unfollowed me on Instagram. A couple of days later I noticed he was starting to watch my insta stories though, as I’m on public. And yesterday I passed him for the first time in a month and gave him a proper hello & he then later on re followed me on Instagram.. seems like he's acting a small bit childish but I don’t know? Everyone’s saying he’s now hurting from the breakup and that it hit him later than it hit me. I’d ignored messages from him & went really quiet & wasn’t liking his insta photos in return, as I needed time to heal. It just looks like he’s constantly looking for attention? I don’t know? Like I’d love to one day get back with him but only if he were to grow up, & I don’t know if the way he’s behaving is because he’s over me or because he’s lost? Please help!

Well, from what you've this described, I could think of two possibilities. He either realized that he is over you after seeing you, or that he wants to get back together. I guess the main difference would be what he does next. If he starts seeking you again, that might be a sign that he wants you back. But if he's not really doing anything, he's over you.

The increased posting on social media is probably cause he needs an outlet to express himself, or that he wants to try something since you broke up. I wouldn't necessarily attribute it to him seeking attention

Thanks! I’m just confused because he’s been trying to make efforts on social media, like he’s posted 2 photos that are got to do with me. He posted a photo from our trip abroad (I’m not in the photo but still) & a photo I edited for him. It just felt like it was on purpose. He’s been trying to make efforts to say hi and be friendly to me but I can’t tell, is it him just trying to be friends? We went out a year and a half, like could he be over me that quickly?

Yes, it is possible to get over someone that quickly. It's not necessarily because of how he sees the relationship you had though. He might just be the type who can get over attachments quickly. It really depends on the person. I think it's still too early to tell his intentions though. Might be best to let him do what he wants for now, and then just see what happens.
