Why does my ex boyfriend want to be friends?

My Ex boyfriend broke up with me nearly a year ago and we didn’t end on the best of terms. He ended up blocking me for 6 months and then suddenly unblocked me on everything.

We matched on Tinder and he ended up messaging me. He said he was sorry we hadn’t spoken in so long and that he wanted to be friends with me again, he just never knew what to say. When I asked why he would want to be friends again he said “we had fun, but we just didn’t work out back then. You don’t wanna be friends?”

Then he asked me to add him on Snapchat where we talked casually until he started being weird and asking if I missed him or thought about him at night.. But then proceeded to say “I don’t want to get back together, just so you don’t think we’re heading down that road”. After this I told him that I moved on from him and that breakup a long time ago and that he shouldn’t go thinking this will ever be a friends with benefits situation and that I only talked on Tinder because I don’t like having bad blood with people.

I didn’t talk to him for a week and then he saw a Snapchat story of me going out and having fun with friends and then removed me as a Snapchat friend the next day.

(This is a bit out of context but he also has a Spotify playlist that is filled with over 5 hours of sad songs that all contain lyrics about heartbreak and missing someone)

Maybe he genuinely wanted to be friends and if you guys found your way back to a relationship he probably would've been ok with it despite what he said. He might be feeling some regret and maybe hoped that you were feeling it too. So seeing you out and about enjoying your life may have been too much for him, Guys are weird sometimes when it comes to breakup and such. They don't feel it right away.

Well tbh, there's only 2 reasons.

1. He wants u back.

2. He got over the break up and realized u are a good friend and doesn't want to lose that friendship. I don't know ur ex like u do.

So you will have to figure out which reason he's trying to get back in ur life.

I have an ex i been friends with for years and no issues.

You spoke to him on tinder of all places, you're looking to hookup with a guy/s if you're on that.
You add him on sc as you would any hookup guy.
You then reject him (he feels you lead him on)..
Course he's going to remove you, he doesn't want to see your stories reminding him what he's missing, he likely feels hurt again.
