I would just like to re-word my question... Let's say you might like a guy and just for example you broke yup with your boyfriend because he cheated on you. How much time would you need before going into another relationship?

It has nothing to do with me, this is a quick summary. I like this girl and we talk everyday for probably 3 months now. She has a boyfriend, 3 weeks ago she told me he cheated on her and she is done with him. I was a stupid idiot and seen she was very sad and asked her if she would like to go to dinner to just cheer her up. She never got back to me and ignored me for 3 days. Now we just have super small talk. SHE did not tell me yet but i did overhear her talk with another girl and she did break up with her boyfriend last week. Today and yesterday we just said good morning to each other but she looked very happy. Also just a side note at the very start she did appreach me first. I dont know what to do because i was an idiot and i should of never asked her that question when she was still with her boyfriend and should have been more patient.

Maybe you should update your question, because this is way different than what you asked, which sounded like ‘after a breakup, how much space do You need from your ex before going back to them’. I’m not pre-planning to go back to an ex. BUT if you’re asking how long I would be single after breaking up with someone before dating someone else, this really depends. 5 years is a long time, and if we ended amicably then I will not be on the rebound and it will take a good while to heal and feel up for dating again. There’s no time stamp on grieving. But if I left him to pursue someone else then obviously I would do that quickly. However I’m not the kind of person to do that.

Well... I'm probably not the right person to answer that question. I've been married for over 20 years, so I'd say the sooner he asked the better his chances are that I wouldn't change my mind.

Younger me would have said it depends.

If I knew that he knew I had just split up with a guy and he asked too soon, Is think he was a vulture. So, a month would be better. Otherwise, a week or two.
