I had two exes text me over the Holidays.

Well, one of them texted both me and my wife, to wish us Happy Holidays and commented on our family photos on Facebook - things ended amicably with her and admittedly she's more a friend of my wife than an ex for me.

The other ex who had sent me Holiday Wishes, I didn't reply to because it looked like a copy pasted message she had sent to all her contacts.

I didn't have her number anymore but understood whom it was thanks to the WhatsApp profile pic.
She's the ex who had sucker punched me when I told her to calm down, so our break up wasn't exactly amicable.

If I have a wife that I loved dearly, then I chose her and her alone. If I have an ex who is a friend of my wife and they text us both wishing us a merry Christmas. I’ll just wish them a merry Christmas back.


If you truly choose your wife, then your ex isn’t special she’s just another woman and so you treat her as such.
If you’re friends with another woman, that’s OK good for you.
If there’s another woman who’s friends with your wife and she wishes you a merry Christmas that’s OK wish them a merry Christmas back because she’s friends with your wife.
If another woman flirts with you or does something suspicious block her, don’t talk to her and tell your wife because she’s just another woman and is nothing special, but your wife is more than that. She’s incredibly special and you don’t wanna give that up.


It’s as simple as that Once you married your wife, and you truly choose her, then Every woman who you’re not related to, or who your wife’s not related to is just another woman.
Obviously, your mom is still your mom your sister is still your sister your cousin is still your cousin your mother-in-law is still your mother-in-law your sister-in-law is still your sister-in-law your cousin in law is still your cousin in law. But your ex is just another woman every girl who is your friend can still be your friend, but they’re still just another woman. Even the most beautiful women in the world are just another woman.

Don't text them back. In fact you should of blocked them there is no what if it is what is. You eneded it for a reason. This a reason why they call it history. But if you're desperate for attention by all means text them back for a hookup. That's why they are texting you anyways.

I honestly would ignore it, we ended things amicably and even remained friends for a while but my new boyfriend is not comfortable with me staying in contact with my ex. I also found out that my ex was not over me just yet so it’s better for me to ignore him in order to not give him the wrong idea.

In your case, if your wife is cool with it and is a friend of hers, then I'd wish her Happy Holidays back. I would make sure to always communicate with my wife if or when she communicated with me and what she said. But I think it's honestly better to just move on with exes and leave get on with the next phase in your life.

I've gotten texts from several of my ex's. I read them, think about them and remember why they're an ex. Usually not a good reason, then I send this response. "Thank you for your interest. I am not accepting applications for the position of asshole at this time. Good luck in your search!"

I would have replied with basic courtesy if it wasn't obviously something she just absent-mindledy sent to all her contacts.

As for the hitting, it's unforgivable and should not be tolerated.
The only exception I could make would be in a situation like one of my friends found himself in - his wife had lost her pregnancy and she lashed out at him in her grief and ended up slapping him. She was horrified right after and apologized, he forgave her because he saw she was blinded with grief. That's the only exception I could make, and even then only if it's a one-time incident.
