What do you think he thought when he saw me?

My ex refused to see me after we broke up because he said it would be too hard for him. He got a new girlfriend two weeks after he said that. Then a couple months later he saw me a year later after our breakup at the bar. We made eye contact for a brief second but he looked away after he realized that it was me. Do you guys think it possible hurt him and that’s why he d couldn’t keep eye contact or he simply doesn’t care?

Hmm that's a tough one. When I guy sees his ex, especially so long after a breakup, it can totally stir up all kinds of feelings even if he's with someone new now.

I think seeing you probably did catch him off guard and hurt a little. Even if he moved on, there's still history there you know? And it's weird because he was trying not to see you at all before. So making eye contact brought all that back up fast.

He might've felt awkward or embarrassed too that you saw him. Guys don't always like their exes seeing them when they've been rejected before. And being with his new girl right there probably made it even weirder.

I wouldn't say he 100% doesn't care, that breakup probably still lingers in the back of his mind sometimes. But at the same time he wants to play it cool in public, so looking away was his way to brush it off and not make a thing of it.

So in short - yeah seeing you likely stirred up some feelings for a sec. But at the same time he wants to seem over it for his new relationship. I'd say it was a strange moment for him for sure!
