Why is he angry that I blocked him if he tells his friends he treats me bad because he wants me to hate him?

We were together for a year. We broke up 7 months into it. He said he wanted to stay friends with me and I let him know I would like that but not now because I need the time to get over him. I guess it didn’t last long because we started talking again as friends but during that time. He was getting really jealous about guys I was talking to not even in a way to get with them. Then we ended up talking to each other again, but not relationship wise. He doesn't want a relationship rn but he wanted things to be the same between us. Push forward to recently he is back to being mean to me. Telling his male friends he’s purposely being horrible to me so I don’t want him. I wasn’t aware of that!! We spoke and I asked if he would block me so I let him know I have nothing but love for him and I blocked him. After that he was flirting with me basically doing things a friend wouldn’t do. He then found out that I blocked him, blocked me back then completely lost it on me while gaming with our friends. I’m clearly confused because you made your friends aware I give you what you want. And I don’t know. I don’t understand why he cared or reacted in that way.
