I never experienced it but my wife's parents got divorced and yes a psychologist was involved that was court ordered.
As a high school teacher for 20 years I've seen countless kids suffering under their parents divorce. If I recall correctly sometime about 2005 the guidance counselors formed a divorce group for the kids to talk about their shared experiences and I thought that was the most progressive thing since they created the bereavement group after 9/11. The only hiccup with the bereavement group was some kids thought it was unfair that they couldn't attend over losing a pet. To say that that issue divided the faculty is a complete understatement! The visceral and robust altercations, because I would not call them a dialogue, that occurred in our faculty meetings was off the charts! We couldn't come up with and agreed upon solution so we asked the board of Ed to decide for us. They said no pet deaths and that was the end of it thank God!

No but probably should have. My mother cheated on my father for a year with some sleazy guy while my dad worked to provide for our family. She ended up shacking up with this guy. My brother and I refused to accept this guy and there was much trouble between my mother and would be step dad. What did she expect she was keeping us away from our father and thought she could slide some new guy into his place for child support etc. Our father ended up renting some shithole because he couldn't afford it with all the bills related to the divorce, alimony, child support and thd mortgage plus my mother had emptied out their joint accounts. We never forgave our mother and barely talk to her, she had another child with her new man and we don't go near him. I had to move out because my step father was being creepy when I turned 15.

I thought that was obligated.
