A month ago I moved into a share apartment with a man and when I met him I felt a connection. When he told me I got the room I was happy because for some reason I wanted to be around him again...
His girlfriend crashed our first restaurant dinner (he never mentioned he had one) and was rude, loud and overbearing. He went into a shell and was negative - not his usual happy self.
She's only over once a week max, sometimes less. She went away for 3 weeks and at that time he was great fun to be around.
When the girlfriend returned from holidays I was away and she used my bathroom leaving a dirty, make-up stained towel with a general mess. She's 31 (I'm 25) so she knows better and did it intentionally. I brought it up with him and he seemed annoyed, he disclosed things about the relationship and seemed 'over it'. I just listened. He was apologetic about her invading my space and I left it at that.
He's cheerful at home, bordering on 'sweet'. He often makes desert for me, brought tea for 'us' (having tea at night together is a routine), introduced me to a comedy show and watches it with me nightly, he says he loves watching my reaction (I laugh a lot).
He kept hinting about Facebook and admitted he'd been trying to find me. Once he added me, he took me through his Italy trip photos and associated stories (he knows I want to go there). He always hands me his phone at night to show me emails, funny YouTube links, work emails...and always making funny jokes or comments - trying to get me to laugh.
The other day a nerdy TV show came on and he was like 'oh they are so geeky' and I said " Oh no I love Nerds, I'm a bit of a nerd myself, and I think it's cute! " and after silence for a minute or so he goes 'just so you know, I am like a massive nerd...'. also he texts and emails me almost daily - silly, funny, cool things.
He insisted I go to his weekend birthday (tho I knew his girlfriend would be there so I stayed at my familys place). I gave him a silly little cardboard boat for his birthday to put together (from work) and then his girlfriend came over to collect serving plates, dishes, cutlery etc from his party (clearly she cooked everything) and I went for a walk to give them time. when I came back it was awkward and quiet and the boat I gave him was made and on the mantel. He insisted I hang with them and watch 'our show' excitedly but I said id have an early one (to avoid weirdness). she ended up leaving about 10minutes after I went to my room and he said 'turn the light off on your way out' - OUCH!
Last night I went to my room and did a facemask and watched a chick flick - I felt awkward about the night before, he knocked on my door, asked what I was doing - I showed him my facemask and he said 'lets drink wine and hang out - seeing we didn't get to last night' he also offered to cook dinner for me. he asked how my date went last week (I made it up to put a boundary between us) and I said 'good'. he went to bed soon after...whats going on - is he flirting or just being nice?
