Why do I doubt myself after a first date?

So I just recently went on a first date with a great girl. She was cute, had a good personality and overall we had a lot in common and had a good back and forth. There were some nerves for both of us I think as well.

At the end of the night I asked if she would like to meet up again and she said yes.

While historically I have had a good success rate of getting a second date, I feel like this is always the go-to phrase girls say whether they are interested or not. I'd much rather just have them tell me they aren't interested or they didn't feel a spark than give a false sense of hope.

Is it normal to have a little self-doubt after a first date or am I over thinking things too much?

it sounds like you did fine, just for the love of god, whatever you do don't be the clingy guy, if you text her wait a day or two, and keep it short and to the point. This is yours to screw up so just be cool, as far as she knows you date all the time and she is just another name in a phone

I did the usual post date text of "i had a great time and hope you got home safe (it was snowing all day)". I will wait a few days to further text her since I know she is busy with some work stuff.

OH no, you texted her right after : ( ... no biggie just make yourself scarce for a few days like you said, but if and when this second date happens you HAVE TO go for a kiss, make out, boob feel, whatever. The point in that isn't the sex (which would be awesome) but that she knows you have the balls to go for it, even if she turns you down. I found it shocking how many women complain that a guy didn't even try to go for it. Maybe you can throw that into the mix and see if you get a new result.

I've usually done the obligatory after date text (just saying I had a good time and it was nice to meet you). Or I get one from the girl, seems to be the cordial/chivalrous thing.

Most of the girls I know say they like when guys do this too.

But like you said, I didn't mention a second date or anything else in the text. And will probably wait till later in the week to hopefully set up date #2 for the following week once her schedule is less hectic.

Honestly it's one date. It's great if you get a second but if not? Dude it's just one date - no big loss right?

I agree it's not a big deal if there isn't a second date, but I just hate having that feeling after a first date already feeling like there won't be a date #2
