Just smh. I took a woman my age out on a couple dates last summer. One to a bar and grill and a week later we went on a hiking trail, and had a good time. Then when I invite her to a third date, she texts me a tells me she doesn't think she's the girl for me. Fine, I thank her for letting me know, and move on. Then, 4 months later, out of the blue,, I get a text from her inviting me out for a drink, saying she feels bad for not taking me up on the third date, so I accept. She says she's flying out to Ireland for a couple weeks, and will text me when she gets back. Well, that was 4 weeks ago and no text. (no I'm not texting her to see what's up). Unless her plane crashed, I guess it's just a female thing? Games...

Unfortunately we all feel down sometimes. During these times, some people suddenly remind that there was someone that likes them. And though they are still not interested, they contact that person. An ego boost, making themselves feel better at the expense of the other person's feelings.

This girl was hung up on this guy. I started flirting with her and though she sometimes seemed interested, she would always get colder when I would flirt more intensely. Yet she always wanted me around her. Why? Well I'd say she did like my, but wasn't ready to move on from the other guy. At the same time I guess she enjoyed the idea someone likes her and that she somehow has a back-up to go to in case it ended for good with the other guy. It made her feel better about herself or something.
Truth is it completely ended between her and the other guy at one point and guess what: she asked me out :/

So the woman in your story is not completely sure what she wants, but likes the idea you want to spend time with her. I guess she enjoys some things about you and wants to know you are there.
