If he likes me, why hasn't he asked me out yet?

This guy and I both like eachother back and we have for a while though. This year we found out how we feel about each other and it was mutual. I also found out he had been feeling the same way I was for about a year. He went as far as to ask my friend for help on asking me out but he never did in the end. I was kinda left confused and wondering why he didn't and/or what changed his mind in the end. It's not the fact that I don't think that girls should ask out the guys it's just when it comes to me, I'd prefer to ask me. I'm just wondering if he likes me so much and for so long, why didn't he ask me out?

Probably just feels awkward asking a girl out. If he's this shy and you're shy too I'll tell you right now you better get comfortable with him before you put the pressure of a relationship on him which might cause him to be even more shy. Are you guys at least friends. I don't mean you just small talk I mean do you actually joke around with each other? If not get to that point first, then you can just ask if he thinks you're attractive. If you two were to go out right now there's a good chance he'll be too scared to do anything or say anything on the chance he might mess it up. I mean he knows for sure you like him and still hasn't asked you out lmao. Give it time. Let it be his problem and just try to be at a place where you're comfortable being alone with him.

Everybody is different. Some, like myself, will overthink things and question if they are good eough for such a person. Or they worry about embarrassing themselves and prefer the possibility of a yes or no to an indefinite no. Some are just really shy and not sure how to break the ice ir to steer the conversation in that direction. If you like him so much, then you go up to him out of no where and ask him out. It doesn't always need to be the guy making the first move

He's probably too nervous to ask you out. As to why, maybe he isn't 100% sure you like him back. Just some possibilities.
