How do I convince my boyfriend that I'm not cheating on him?

I've been with my boyfriend for about 4 months. He's a lovely guy, really affectionate, and we have a great time together. The downside - he dislikes my male best friend. I don't know why. My friend always stays civil with my boyfriend whenever he sees him. I have also known my friend since we were like 5.

My boyfriend went away on holiday last week and I went out with some friends. My friend got drunker than usual (he was sick) and he also lives really far away, so I said he could stay in my spare room. I told my boyfriend as I didn't see it as a big deal and I never hide anything, and he got really angry. He went off on a rant saying that I was seeing my friend behind his back and that having him sleep over was proof.

So what the hell do I do? I don't think I acted inappropriately. This is really annoying me that he doesn't trust me.

I personally think that your boyfriend is in the right in how he feels. Most men would be. It doesn't mean your particularly wrong, but keep in mind that I personally believe men and women can't be friends. Eventually one thing will lead to another, advances will be made and the friendship will evolve into something more. Most of the time that is. Obviously that isn't the case with you, but just reassure your boyfriend that nothing is happening and you guys are just friends. Guys know how guys act, so any male "best friends" that my girlfriend has is a suspicious red alarm to me.

How do you convince him? Easy— you don't. In a relationship you just have to trust eachother. If your boyfriend does not trust you and acts like this, then he can't have a healthy relationship with you.

I should note however that most guys don't hang out a lot with a girl unless they are interested in more. Even as long time friends.. Girls often don't see this at all, and maybe it isn't the case, but keep that in mind. I've spent 10 years with a female friend kinda hoping more would happen. To her we were just best friends.

If he doesn't trust you, there is nothing you can say to change his mind. Consider.
Also, it's your best friend. Why would your boyfriend be against you having a really good friend sleep over?
