Why is it easier to reconciliation a short term relationship vs a long term relationship?

from my experience I dated 3 different females for less than 6 months, we broke up. Did no contact for less than 3 months and they all came running back with stronger feelings before. Vs

a long term relationship where you dated more than a year. I was in a relationship with 2 different girls for almost 3 years.1st one I didn't hear back from for a good 2 years and she wanted to rekindle the 2nd I have heard from on and off going on two years.

Why is this?

anybody ever experienced this or have been through it
