Why does my boyfriend keeps comparing himself to my ex?

Hii, so I got in a relationship 3 months ago, I really love him and I want our relationship to last as long as possible and to be amazing for both of us. He says he loves me too and wants the same thing.
But sometimes he asks questions about my ex, intimate ones. I try not to answer and I tell him that right now he's the one that matters for me and that I don't care about my ex. But he insists and asks even more questions, especially about our sexual relationships ("how long did he last?" "was he better than me?" and so on)
I've told him that these questions make me uncomfortable, nd that they make me feel like he doesn't believe me when I tell him that he's the one I want.
Why is he doing this?

He may be afraid of possibly losing you due to his low self-esteem and insecurity of believing your ex may have been a better boyfriend sexually by comparison but the thing is if that was the case and nothing went wrong in the previous relationship, you'd still have been with your ex. He needs to understand that intimate details like that about your ex are none of his concern and have no effect on your relationship with your current boyfriend as it is. Why not tell him to stop asking these type of questions since they make you feel uncomfortable? Reassure him that he has nothing to worry about since you want to move forward with him in a new relationship together!

I can understand why some men would want to compare sexual experiences whether by insecurities and/or curiosity but you're not obligated to provide the details if you don't want to. I hope he overlooks this so it doesn't continue to haunt him.

He's comparing himself to your exes out of insecurity. That's understandable. But to ask such questions is just not right and he should understand that..
You should tell him it makes u feel uncomfortable when he asks such things. Maybe then he'll stop.
