How can I talk to my crush? I'm too nervous to approach him?

I caught him staring once or twice but that doesn't mean anything at all. He seems kinda introverted and my heart races at the thought of even talking to him. How can I get his attention? I was going to say do it like i do. and that is way worse and tougher. I liked a girl one time and i did it my way, admitted to her that i liked her, but every time i tried to get a response back, be it yes or no, she just changed the subject/dodged.
