How can I return the expensive gift my girlfriend bought me?

I will try to keep it as short as possible, So recently my G. F gifted me something I think is very costly and I think is a bit too far because we are both medical students and fee's... I am looking to somehow return her gift and don't be trashy about it or somehow negate the consequences. I have tried to talk to her about it and it doesn't work out very for me, She shut me off by saying "its her prob not mine"

Guys chill I am not going to return it but I think question was lacking in some information cuz I forgot to mention the history of our "Stupid Spoiling each-other with expensive gift's behavior" but I was thinking She took it far.
Now I tried to talk about the problem without direct confrontation and it worked out perfectly but thanks everyone for reply.

@AlphaGhost I think you are person who believes in Giving but not comfortable with receiving stuffs or gifts from someone if you feel responsible for your partner who is making an investment on you and think that the cost of the gift could be used to do other imp and useful stuff I understand it I guess but sometimes in relationship you have to allow them to do something for you also and you have to learn to accept and appreciate it.
Do you have any doubts about your relationship or its just that you are overwhelmed by her gesture? Anyways if you are not feeling comfortable just wait for sometime and know what she likes and gift it to her. And donot fall for the power battle let go of that and appreciate each other for healthy relationship and you also clear her that next time she could discuss with you before doing big gestures..

I don't think there really is a way out of this. Just try to support her in the ways that you can to pay her back. Maybe start cooking at home for the two of you. Maybe take her out on inexpensive dates (like picnics).

Apologize for wanting to return the gift, but ask her to see your point of view. returning the gift can be quite considered an offense since she wanted to make you happy and all she got was "no thanks" in return. What could possibly be worse than that? You don't want to insult her like that. You can however let her know "you didn't have to do that but i still appreciate it because i love you".
