My boyfriend (now ex) wants me to dress less feminine but claims I look like a man?

We were dating a year and after 7months he first said in an argument that im so ugly he can't be intimate with me, without thinking about other girls and insulted me as a whore and stuff (he is my first boyfriend didn't even kiss prior to him). Now when we were in public he wouldn't want to hug me and after we split he said its because i look like a man (due to an illness i had to cut my hair chin length). I used to have a lot of guys trying to get with me and always dressed feminine. He used to say I'm too pretty for him and told me i should stop wearing makeup and dress that way because others would try to steal me. I'm just very confused why he would want me to stop if i look like a man? Sidenote i have a quite curvy figure and I'm short if that helps to imagine me
