I have a great job offer. But it requires travel and I have a cat. What should I do?

I know it sounds silly. But for two months at a time, twice a year I have to travel with them. To beautiful places, and they will pay me well. So that means I have to leave my cat for really long. We live alone and he’s basically my shadow and is really attached to me. I’d get him a daily pet sitter but I don’t think I could ever get my mind to be at ease. :(

my alternative offer is a job out of biking range (I can’t afford a car) so I’d have to Uber to work every day even tho they offered to give me rides

You need to talk about your cat with your job offers. You need to let them know your cat is basically like your child and you cannot find yourself to just leave to go to places that you don't really know for good job offers. My suggestion to you is that if your cat is practically family was obviously he is, the best thing you can do is find another job that is accommodating to the both of you. You got to really decide if money is so important to the point you going to neglect your own cat.

Now, I understand a lot of people will say what was just a cat, you can just get yourself another one. But that's not how that works. I fully do not understand people who treat their own animals like that. Sadly and obscene sometimes how people treat animals like that it's how they end up treating their own children or their own family let alone people. And it's not good because, is often a reflection of the person. I believe that the other job offer, or the first one that you mentioned it's obviously extremely good. But at the same time I will tell him this. If they so badly want you they're going to have to find a way to help you take care of your own cat. Because you're not leaving without your cat. They can't offer that much even if it means that you lose some pay for it, you're better off going elsewhere that's just my opinion. Because there's no point in saying you have love for your cat and you're also saying you're going to abandon him either. So that's what you're going to have to realize.

Situations like that is probably one of the top main reasons why I don't have myself involved with an individual on that level, let alone pets personally of my own. Because when you got to take care of yourself and you don't have anybody, this is another situation you got to think about. I say you got to think more so not only just for your cat and what you going to have basically for the future. Again all you can do is talk about it with them, and see what they say. In the meantime I think you better look at the places.

You could leave it at a cat care center. I don't know the places that do that specifically though. Whenever we travel we leave our dog at a place called no leash needed. It's pretty much a dog daycare. They play with other dogs during the day and if you want they can keep them overnight or as long as you need. Obviously it's not free. Our dog loves it, granted she prefers being with us more, but there she gets to play with other dogs all the time.

Find a reputable cat sitter that you can trust, or a friend or neighbor and offer to pay them. Cats don't need to be checked on every day, so that can save you money.
