I knew a girl who would act like a total attention thirsty hoe throughout all of college, but she ended up marrying the guy she was dating that whole time, and she remains married to this day.

So I'm not sure.
I feel some girls legit have a kink for getting attention from men while they are taken, but I have never asked her why she is doing it instead of breaking up.

How can I know that? May be she has an ulterior motive for being with her boyfriend. I can only take some guesses

Who knows the woman is a gold digger or she is greedy meaning she wants both her boyfriend who may have some good qualities and treats her well but at the same time she wants this other man in her life because this man flirts with her, gives her attention and makes her feel better than what her boyfriend can.

Hence for this woman both her boyfriend and this man may come off as good and so instead of choosing one she wants to continue doing this as long as she can.

The boyfriend doesn't know this I suppose because if he does and if he is man of self respect he will surely break up with her.
