How important is the salary a guy makes when choosing a long term partner?

I live in the most expensive city in Canada & I make a little over the average income. With an amazing pension. I know that connection, attractiveness and good sex are important, but how important is a mans income to choosing a long term partner? I know it depends women to women but on average how much would you say it plays in?

To me income doesn't really matter as long as the person is in a similar field of study/occupation

But typically the field I'm going into pays well
