Why do women beat around the bush and play mind games?

I met this girl last week on Sunday. We were supposed to hang out that Friday but she had some family stuff come up and canceled. Okay, no problem. Fast forward to today I ask her out for ice cream and she originally didn’t reply because I asked her like 30 minutes before the place opened. Then she said “maybe later today.” Haven’t heard since.

I thought she was interested because of how well our conversations flow and how she tells me to text her when I’m not replying, but I’m not stupid because I’ve been in slightly similar situations.

My question is this: why do women beat around the bush and play mind games instead of just saying ‘not today, maybe another time’ or ‘no, I’m not interested.’ There’s nothing stopping them from being upfront so the other person can get on with their life. I know I’m going to get the “women don’t owe you an explanation” response, but why does that justify wasting someone’s time and effort?

If she said that you could have texted back once to set a time. If she still deflected than she never really wanted to meet up.

For the record same amount of men do the same thing. These halls are full of both genders asking the same questions.

I had no interest in dating until this year so this is confusing to me.

Ah, in that case I would assume it was a fluff off and try again another day. If you still get a bland answer time to move on. Don’t take it personally or let it hurt you. Some people don’t mesh well, others are just bad communicators. You’ll find your woman a lot easier if you stay positive. Good luck.

Yes, I have to say the same. Men are just as bad but it's no excuse. I would say that she wasn't overly interested, if you asked for a time and she didn't come back to you, I'd take that as thanks but no thanks and move on.
