As a followup to another question of mine, is there a certain age where you wouldn’t approve of your first date with someone being a double date?

Since some people want a date with the person RIGHT AWAY and dont want to talk/text for a few weeks/months, then tell me this… would you be okay with your date bringing along a friend or couple to double date with you? I mean, they dont know you all that well yet and you might be a psycho so maybe they need backup.
In the past, one guy got mad that i suggested my cousin and her boyfriend attend our first date which was about 2 hours away at the beach. We werent going to share a hotel room with them but they were going to be in the same hotel. He got mad and said he didn't want anyone near us. I told him they’d only be around if we went to the casino or something. He reassured that he didn't want anyone watching us, even though they’d be doing their own thing. He later proceeded to tell me that if he wanted sex, he wanted to be sure he was going to get it and that if i changed my mind, he was simply going to take it. Bold mf… The date never occurred because he was caught talking to a 16 year old on the side, grooming her to be his backup plan. And yes this man was well over 21 years old. Its not like im going to bring the people uninvited. I’d ask the guy if he's okay. One of my exes brought his whole family to our theme park date. One time I asked a lady out, I planned the date. I took her to a little spot for dinner so we could talk, then we met up with some of my friends at a bar nearby so that way (even though they were my friends) it wasn't like she had to worry about what I would do to her.

But to answer your main question, no I don't have any restrictions on age when it comes to a double date.

But now that I think about it, I realize how uncomfortable I would be in this situation if the people we were with were her friends/family. I would feel like the outside person, and it would make me be so much more shy and that I would be judged on thinks that I would say.
But if she told me that the other couple would be there at the location but not be hanging over our shoulder the whole time, then I would feel more at ease.

I personally believe that double dates or bringing friends is a horrible idea unless you are exclusive. How is that fair to your date? Now you are putting additional pressure on them to not only make the date fun for you, but they also have to entertain and get along and make a good impression on your friends or family you decide to being to screen the guy. He is pretty much a third or fourth wheel along for the ride.

I get it from the standpoint that you want to make sure he isn't a psycho or something else, but damn. Talking and trying to do messaging for a month prior to a date is just a quick way to lose attraction as well, especially with women. You either talk a girl out of liking you before a date or you run out of things to talk about before the date and then you just sit there trying to create conversation and have fun.

Speaking from experience as a guy, it is not fun. I felt awkward the whole time when I tried that in the past and she asked me. I wanted to say no because I saw it from the perspective of taking her on a date. Not her and her friend, but I also see it from the point of safety. I struggled talking with them and felt hung out to dry through the majority of the conversations. They spent most of the time talking to each other.

Learned that lesson the hard way. Never again. Like I said, I get it with wanting to feel safe, but there is a limit or respect that should be established.

I'd expect them to have friends close to make sure I'm not going to murder them. A double date at the same table is a little intrusive but the same restaurant is fine.

I wish this wasn't the case but there are so many horror stories of dates going wrong I have no problem with appropriate precautions. If they take it too far (phone every 10 mins, big group of friends or similar) I'd distance myself, some degree of trust is required.

Actually I took a girlfriend to spend the weekend with me at my grandmother once and my mother took us there. My grandmother lived about three hours away and my mother was going there for the weekend. It was probably our third date when I asked if she wanted to go and she said yes. So me and her and my mother went to my grandmothers for the weekend.
