I have not dated anyone exclusively for almost 4 years. It is soon soon a year ago I went on a date. I also never been with someone I'd consider a partner/boyfriend and someone who would consider me a girlfriend anyway. So kinda always been single.
I am very bad at it, brings out many insecurities and it is very stressful to date and let someone in who is maybe (likely it feels like for me) not going to stay. I've been hurt and felt dissappointed many times when giving it a chance.
Overall I am happy being single so that's what I choose for now.

It can feel rather safe to not confront the why's behind one's previous actions in relationship. At least you've become more self aware e. g. nothing that you're "very bad (at relationships)... it brings our many insecurities... stressful" and fears that this other person would leave you. I mean I never really let Covid keep me from living my life like normal. I didn’t have much of a social life before Covid, nor do I have much of one after lol. I don’t really think Covid was ever a barrier to meet people.

But I’ve tried Tinder in the past. It’s incredibly depressing swiping on profile after profile hundreds of times and you get nothing. Just nothing. It really started to fuck with me because I used to think I was a good looking guy. I used to have women hit on me. I’m not saying I got loads of women chasing after me, but it’s nice to actually know that someone finds you attractive and wants to spend time with you. You don’t get that with Tinder. I don’t really think of myself as attractive anymore and I know that no amount of exercise of new clothes or whatever will amount to anything—-been there, tried that. I think I went on four dates on Tinder in as many years. Out of those women only one of them I kinda sorta was interested in—the others were very boring, terrible conversationalists, and I just didn’t feel any interest or speak. But this one gal ended up saying she was seeing another guy while also seeing me and she decided he was the better choice for her. Oh well.

This is modern dating. At least it was for me.
