Why is it worse to accept and not reject a man out of pity?

Anonymous
It can be any progress the man wants, whether it's a date, friendship, moving in with him or even a proposal.

Several men complained about rejection or unrequited love. They get hurt by it. I once said accepted of compassion and placed his feeling over mine. He found out months later and to him that was worse than getting rejected. He hated me more for that.

A couple other girls I know of did that but the man hated that more than a rejection. Why is that worse for a man? At least she's not rejecting you. She has compassion and pity for you.

I just don't like doing rejection to be honest. If a man were to admit to catching feelings for me and he wants me... well even if I don't feel the same, I find myself still accepting it. By doing that, I'm trying to help him too.
