My boyfriend upset I made him a birthday cake?

I decided to make my boyfriend a big elaborate birthday cake, but he doesn’t seem appreciative of it. I put so much effort in it, I stayed up all night and tried my hardest. I made little details and everything. I am upset. I feel hurt, I love making cakes, it is one of my hobbies and so many people say that my baking is amazing. What do I do or say?

Unfortunately, some people are not appreciative of the efforts made to try to please them. Your boyfriend is one of those.

He does not realize how much work goes into baking something special and I can understand your frustration that your hard labor is not appreciated.

You should tell him that what you did was for him only and that you feel hurt that he does not appreciate your labor and display of love. You can also tell him that you thought he would enjoy eating this cake together with you as a bond and to share something that you were happy to make for him because you care.

Ask him also if he would prefer that you don't show that much enthusiasm with him and if he prefers that you take your distance. That should wake him up and hopefully realize that what you did deserves better than just denial.

Maybe he hates his birthday. Those people are rare, but my crush, me and my mother are few instances of people who hate their birthdays. That's the only explaination.
