I feel like I’ve scared him away over text how can I turn it around?

I’ve been talking to a guy for a few weeks and we’ve been one one date that went really well and we arranged another. Since then we’ve spoken every day and he would initiate communication some days. However one morning I accidentally video called him, and I tried to sarcastically play it off but I think he took it the wrong way. I said “im so clumsy, have a great day” and he said “just wanted to see me, cute xx” I then stupidly said, “you got me there, just wanted to lay my eyes on you” which I think he took seriously! His whole time changed and then he said he doesn’t want anything serious…. But we may still go on the next date. How can I make him chase me again? I want to let him know it really was an accident without coming across needy!!

I think if he's that easily scared off, he's only going to be a pain in the future anyway.

Obviously he took that seriously, we tend to understand things litterally, best solution, talk with him about it even if it is awkward, just tell him exactly what you think. If he understands, good, if he gets upset maybe was the best.
