What should I do in this situation & my relationship?

My girlfriend of 3 years and I were talking about things & she revealed to me something that made me turned cold. She admitted to me that at the very beginning of our relationship, she originally viewed me as a friend because she wasn’t attracted to me. She described it that she never dated someone of my type (being a bigger guy).

She pretended to be interested & went along with it so she doesn’t hurt my feelings with rejection. At a certain point, she told herself that people are born a specific way and it doesn’t devalue who they are as a person. Then gave me a fair chance & ended up falling for me. I didn’t know how to respond and just shut down. She kept telling me that she’s sorry and I just have no words to say. I feel completely hallow and disconnected. What exactly should I do?

I think it's a measure of her faith in the relationship, trust in you to admit that. Clearly it's not an issue for her anymore, so she didn't think it would be a big deal. The fact that she cares that YOU care shows that, well she cares about you...

I've experienced overcoming some initial reservations about someone and with falling for them and literally seeing them become more and more handsome in my eyes. It's a pretty awesome feeling, really. Only happens when you choose to give it a shot, or decide to choose them, you know.

So, it seems this is a little bit about your own insecurity (sorry) then her current feelings for you :)

You have to decide what to do with her honesty. Should you admire her honesty, accept it and continue the relationship or was her honesty clarity for you to move on to someone else who finds you instantly attractive?

As tough as it was to hear, She admitted something most girls hide and I have to give her points for being honest and truthful. She must really want to be open and honest if she admitted that.

You should feel proud of yourself that you're a good enough guy to overcome someone's initial prejudices about body types.

And you should gain some confidence that you aren't defined by your weight.
