I think it's a lot more acceptable now then it was awhile ago which is nice.

@Losalt What I mean is maybe in the 1900's and earlier if for example a white person wanted to marry a black person it would be frowned on. Now it's a lot more acceptable.

People always has had that "us" vs "them" mentality.
It's a deep rooted instinct in us.
It enable us to hunt and eat meat, fight other tribes and clans, and defend our family and out it first.

It makes a lot of biological sense, our genes wants to increase the survival chances of themselves.
And giving your kin an unfair advantage when it comes to access to food etc was important and could mean the difference between life and death.
But it's illogical in modern society in my view.
Both cultural and genetic diversity is important for our survival.

The whole point of that instinct is to kind of just turn of your empathy and sense of ethics and dehumanize whatever being is in the out group, be that a animal or another human in order to make actions that might otherwise be psychologically impossible possible allowing us to act in ways that we may need to survive.
It does make sense in a situation with resource constraints.
Not in the modern western world though...
